Bike Ride Meets?

Unread post by Wolfstang » Sun Mar 29, 2015 3:21 pm

So last weekend two of us were talking about doing a bike ride on the American River Trail System one of these days. I'd like to do a group ride someday with some of the members here. Not sure when though. I'm ganna be crazy busy up through BLFC, but after that hopefully my schedule will slow down. Anyone else out there ride?

I have a basic mountain bike, but often ride the paved trails too. So I would be up for any kind of ride pretty much.

I'd totally be down for meeting at a park or other cheap parking lot near a trail and just ride for the morning/afternoon!

Could be fun! Are there any decent paved trails around there? Not really familiar with the trail system.

The only trail I'm really familiar with is the American River Bike Trail. It runs along the river. If we wanted to end (or begin) our trip at Old Sac or Discovery Park that'd be the trail to use.

Anyone up for trying to do this next weekend? Sat April 18th or Sunday (afternoon) April 19th?

Discovery Park is $5/Vehicle, and it's a great central location for starting on any of the trails

Do we want to see about making this a proper meet?

That would be a good idea. But I'm kinda back pedaling on this (no pun intended) right now. I'm still behind of BLFC projects and probably should stay home Saturday and try and get them further along. So don't wait on me.

We don't seem to have anything on the docket for the 24th if that works better. I'm trying to ride around a little more so I don't totally embarrass myself, so more time to work up is better for me!

Ahhhh.....? Again that's hard to call right now Seraph. I'm just really ganna be busy till after BLFC. Yeah the whole lazy procrastinating furry bit. That and I have different family members staying in town on/off through then also. I'll try to keep watch with what y'all decide and go from there.

How's about this then, to get stuff set:

Saturday 4/25 (it's looking like it'll be mid-70s that day, so a little more cool)
Meet at Discovery Park around 1 or 2 pm
Bike riding for those inclined, plus picnic area for those not so inclined
Possible fursuiting for non-riders?
Dinner at the Chevys on the river nearby around 5ish

The bike route's about 2.5 miles if we go from one end of Discovery Park to the other, so we'd be looking at around... 25-30 minutes or so if we're hustling, probably around 40-45 if we take a nice leisurely pace (both ways)

okay.. so my thoughs on this..

First: next weekend wouldn't work for me since I'll be out of town. Also there are multiple other events also going on (picnic in Reno, People moving, etc) so it might not be the best weekend to schedule things.

Second: As I've stated before, I don't think Discovery park is the best location to start the ride. Sure if we were to make it more of a picnic thing it's worth the cost of admission but if we're mainly going to be rideing bikes there's allot of trails and options that doesn't require us paying a park fee to initially get to the trail.

Third: on that note let me get serious about this and look up a route to propose...
